The regional recognition program honors outstanding young leaders who demonstrate professional achievement and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.
The Future Forward Awards were created through a partnership between the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Highland County Chamber of Commerce and the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge. The inaugural class was selected from a pool of 14 candidates who exemplify the talent, dedication and community spirit that help strengthen our region.
Jonah Pence, President of PCB, says, “At PCB, we know that strong communities are built by people who invest in others. Monika exemplifies that commitment through her leadership at PCB and her service beyond the workplace.”
In addition to leading human resources at PCB, Monika serves as Immediate Past President of the governing board of Highland Medical Center, demonstrating her dedication to supporting the well-being of the communities she serves.
The Future Forward Awards recognize individuals under the age of 40 who live and work in the region and demonstrate professional accomplishment, leadership, civic engagement and a commitment to the area's future. Each recipient will also have the opportunity to direct a $1,500 grant from the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge to a regional nonprofit organization of their choice. Monika has selected Highland Medical Center as the recipient of her contribution.
The awards reflect a shared belief among the organizing partners that investing in emerging leaders is essential to the region's continued growth and success. By recognizing individuals who are already making a difference, the program also encourages continued civic involvement and helps cultivate the next generation of community leaders.
Monika joins fellow 2026 honorees Michael Botkin, Josh Law, Angela Mickens and Scotty Tiernan in the inaugural class.
Congratulations to Monika on this well-deserved recognition!
